Over ZOOM: We hope to impart an understanding of gardens in the context of fire, rather than working off plant lists and generic advice.  Her goal is helping people understand the reasoning behind the “defensible zones”, how fires move, why the common recommendations can be misleading, and what we can all realistically do about it.  She emphasizes that everyone can do something, regardless of how much land they steward or where they live.  She will be discussing typical fire behavior, the synergies (and sometimes tension) between fire and the environment, and how we can select and care for plants to reduce our risk factors outside.  Photo by kevin Ruiz chávez on Unsplash
