In this talk, we focused on helping people understand the reasoning behind the “defensible zones”, how fires move, why the recommendations we often read can be misleading, and what we can all realistically do about it.  Jennifer emphasizes that everyone can do something, regardless of how much land they steward, or where they live.  She will be discussing typical fire behavior, the synergies (and sometimes tension) between fire and the environment, and how we can select and care for plants to make them as low-risk as possible.  Photo by DESIGNECOLOGIST on Unsplash
